What Our Volunteers Do

At Street2Forest, our volunteers are the driving force behind everything we do. They’re passionate people from all walks of life—city dwellers, villagers, and those living near forests—united by a common goal: protecting animals and restoring our natural world. Their hands-on efforts create real change, one act of kindness at a time.

How Our Volunteers Make a Difference

Feeding Stray Animals

Every day, our volunteers head out across cities, towns, rural areas, and even jungle edges to feed animals in need. They’re trained to do this safely and hygienically, keeping detailed records and always looking for new areas where help is needed. Their dedication ensures that no animal is left hungry or forgotten.

Supporting Wildlife Near Forests

In communities bordering forests, our volunteers play a vital role: Providing food like bananas, grains, and salt licks to monkeys, deer, and elephants that wander into villages Monitoring wildlife to prevent conflicts Working closely with forest officers to redirect animals safely This work helps protect both wildlife and local crops, especially when natural food sources are scarce.

Planting and Caring for Trees

Our volunteers don’t just feed animals—they also plant and nurture native, fruit-bearing trees. They : Choose the best spots for planting Dig, plant, and water saplings Take responsibility for young trees as “Tree Guardians” Teach children and farmers about the value of green spaces

Collecting Data for Smarter Action

Using mobile devices, our field teams gather important data:Counting stray and wild animals Mapping areas in need of more trees Understanding local challenges and attitudes This information shapes our programs, ensuring we meet real needs on the ground.

Spreading Awareness & Building Community

Our volunteers are also educators and community builders. They: Run school sessions on kindness to animals Organize workshops in villages and tribal areas Inspire young people and women to become long-term animal advocates They help foster a spirit of coexistence, bringing people and animals closer together.

A Lifeline for Animals

Feeding is at the core of our mission. It’s a simple act with a huge impact, helping both stray and wild animals survive and thrive.Stray Animal Feeding Every day, we feed stray animals across different areas. Our volunteers provide: Nutritious meals like cooked rice and vegetables for dogs and cows Grains and fresh water for birds

We focus on places where animals gather— bus stops, markets, railway stations, and quiet village roads. Volunteers carry portable feeding kits with containers, gloves, clean water, and even first aid for injured animals.

Supporting Wildlife in Forest Fringe Areas Wild animals such as monkeys, deer, elephants, and peacocks often come into farmland searching for food, which can cause tension.

Our volunteers:

  • Set up safe feeding trails with fruits, corn, and rice bran
  • Place salt licks and fruit baskets near buffer zones
  • Work with forest guards to keep both animals and people safe
  • Provide water during the hottest months
  • This approach helps feed wildlife while reducing risky encounters with humans.
  • Why This Work Matters

Countless animals in India go hungry every day—not because of nature, but because of human neglect. By feeding them, we do more than fill empty stomachs:

We offer dignity and care We prevent disease and aggression, We nurture a culture of compassion and responsibility "Every meal served is an act of kindness. Every tree planted is a promise of a better future". And every volunteer who steps up is helping to restore the balance between people and nature.
